How to enable Authentication for SMTP (outgoing mail)
If you are having problems sending email and the error says that
the SMTP server rejected your ip address, it also may give the error
code 0x800CCC61, please follow the instructions below.
Outlook Express
- Open Outlook Express
- Click Tools and select Accounts...
- Select Mail tab
- Select Lanset mail account and select Properties
- Select Servers tab
- Check My Server Requires Authentication
- Select Settings...
- Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server
- Click OK
- Click OK
- Click Close
Microsoft Outlook
- Open MS Outlook
- Click Tools and select Email Accounts
- Select View or change existing e-mail accounts and click
OK
- Select Lanset mail account and click Change...
- Click More Settings
- Select Outgoing Server tab
- Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
- Select Use Same Settings as Incoming Mail Server
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Click Finish
