Windows NT 3.51 Dial-up Settings
Installing Remote
Access Service
- From Program Manager, double-click the Main
Program Group icon.
- Double-click the Control Panel icon.

- Double-click the Network icon.

- If you are prompted to install Windows NT Networking, click
the Yes button and continue with the next step.

- Enter the full path to the Windows NT installation files.

- Click the Continue button.

- Click the Do Not Detect button.

- Click the Remote button to install Remote Access Service.
- Check Connectivity Utilities.
- All other Components are optional.
- Uncheck Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration.
- Click the Continue button.
- Select the Port your modem is installed on.

- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button to let Remote Access Setup attempt
to detect your modem.

- If your modem is detected, click the OK button. If
your modem is not detected, contact your modem manufacturer
for an updated modem.inf file.

- For Port Usage, select Dial out only.

- Click the OK button.
- You may receive a notice that automatic restoration of
network connections has been disabled.

- Click the OK button.
- Click the Network button
- Uncheck NetBEUI.

- Click the OK button.
- Check TCP/IP.
- Uncheck IPX.

- Click the OK button.

- Click the Continue button.

- Click the OK button.
- If you receive a notice about NetBEUI, click the OK
button.

- For Member of, select Workgroup.
- In the Workgroup box, type WORKGROUP.
- Click the OK button.

- Click the Restart Computer button.
Configuring Remote
Access Service
- From Program Manager, double-click the Remote Access Service
Program Group icon.

- Double-click the Remote Access icon.

- If you receive a message that The phone book is emtpy,
click the OK button.

Otherwise, click the Add button.
- In the Entry Name box, type Lanset.
- In the Phone Number box, type your Lanset access
number.
- In the Description box, type Lanset.
- Uncheck Authenticate using current user name and password.

- Click the Advanced buttton.

- For Port, selec the port your modem is installed on.
- Click the Modem button.
- For Initial speed (bps), select:
19200 for a 14400 modem
38400 for a 28800 or 33600 modem
57600 for a 56000 modem.
- Check all Hardware Features supported by your modem.
- Uncheck Enter modem commands manually.

- Click the OK button.

- Click the Network button.
- Select PPP
- Uncheck NetBEUI.
- Check TCP/IP.
- Uncheck IPX.
- Uncheck Request LCP extensions.

- Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
- Select Server assigned IP address.
- Select Use specific name server addresses.
- In the DNS box, type 208.187.165.18.
- In the DNS backup box, type 208.187.165.14.
- Check Use VJ header compression.
- Check Use default gateway on remote network.

- Click the OK button.

- Click the OK button.

- Click the Security button.
- Select Accept any authentication including clear text.
- For both Before dialing and After dialing, choose
(none).

- Click the OK button.

- Click the OK button.
Connecting to Lanset
- Select your Lanset entry.
- Click the Dial button.
- In the User Name box, type your username (e.g., username.
Note: the username must be in all lower case.)
- In the Password box, type your Lanset password (Note:
this is case-sensitve).
- Do not enter anything in the Domain box. It must remain
blank.
- Click the OK button.
- Check Minimize on dial.
- Check Do not display this message in the future.

- Click the OK button.
